Light-shift tomography of higher modes (May 2010)

Absorption images of the atoms sitting at a depth of about 1.5 uK in the optical potential created by the 1560 nm laser locked to the first three transversal modes of the optical cavity.

Atoms in TEM10 and TEM20 cavity modes (3 September 2009)

Absorption images of the atoms trapped in the TEM10 and TEM20 cavity modes. The images are taken after 50 ms of trapping time in the cavity. The 1560 nm laser is locked to the higher modes, and the coupling effinciency is optimized by tilting the input direction of the beam.


Atoms in the dipole trap (7 August 2009)

Fluorescence signal in the trapping region after 10 ms and 100 ms of confinement in the 1560 nm crossed dipole trap.


First crossing of the two arms of the optical cavity (6 July 2009)

Fluorescence signal in the trapping region with the probe light at -10 Gamma from the D2 line. The measurement is done after few ms of free expansion of the MOT while keeping the 1560 nm laser locked to the cavity (intra-cavity optical power about 5 W). The two images are taken from above and from one side. The dark region at the arms crossing is due to the good overlapping, which doubles the local optical power.
